By accessing or using CivicRadar (“the Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Service. These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and CivicRadar.

2. Description of Service

CivicRadar is a civic engagement platform that provides government data, AI-generated summaries, personalized impact analysis, and civic insights. The Service aggregates publicly available data from government sources and presents it in a personalized, accessible format to help citizens stay informed about legislation, executive orders, court decisions, and their elected representatives.

3. User Accounts

To access personalized features, you must create an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to update such information to keep it accurate and current.

You must be at least 13 years of age to create an account. If you are under 18, you represent that you have your parent or guardian's permission to use the Service.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service or its systems
  • Scrape, crawl, or use automated means to access the Service without prior written permission
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers connected to the Service
  • Impersonate any person or entity, or falsely state or misrepresent your affiliation
  • Use the Service to distribute spam, malware, or other harmful content
  • Resell or redistribute the Service without authorization

5. Intellectual Property

The CivicRadar platform, including its design, code, features, and branding, is the intellectual property of CivicRadar. Government data displayed on the platform is in the public domain. AI-generated content (summaries and analyses) is provided as part of the Service.

You retain ownership of any data you provide to CivicRadar, including your profile information, topic preferences, and saved items.

6. Data Sources

Government data is sourced from Congress.gov, the Federal Register, CourtListener, and OpenStates. We do not guarantee the completeness, accuracy, or timeliness of this data. While we make reasonable efforts to keep information current, there may be delays between official government actions and their appearance on CivicRadar.

CivicRadar is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the United States government or any government agency.

7. AI-Generated Content

AI-powered summaries and impact analyses are generated by artificial intelligence and may contain inaccuracies, errors, or misinterpretations. They are provided for informational purposes only and should not be relied upon as legal, financial, or professional advice. Always verify important information with official government sources. Every item on CivicRadar links to its original source for verification.

8. Your Data

We will never sell your personal data to third parties.

Your privacy is fundamental to our mission. Your profile data, topic preferences, and usage data are used solely to personalize your CivicRadar experience. For full details, please see our Privacy Policy.

9. Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. CivicRadar shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, use, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service.

CivicRadar does not provide legal, financial, or professional advice. Any decisions made based on information obtained through the Service are your sole responsibility.

10. Modifications

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of material changes by updating the “Last Updated” date and, for significant changes, by providing notice through the Service. Your continued use of the Service after such modifications constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

11. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at our discretion, with or without notice, for conduct that we determine violates these Terms or is harmful to other users, us, or third parties, or for any other reason. You may delete your account at any time through the Settings page. Upon account deletion, your personal data will be removed in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

12. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved in the courts of Delaware.
